High mountains evoke isolation. Their torn and rugged battlements stand in mute, stoic testimony to the passing of life, breathing their cold and frosty sky.
People are not mountains, but sometimes they think they should be. From the time of diagnosis some carers can experience isolation, feeling torn and embattled but choosing to silently endure the icy, roaring winds and the splitting rocks of grief and loss.
Having good support can make all the difference. Palliative care volunteers support people and their loved ones at or near the end of life.
