New Guide – End of Life Care and Decision Making

  • by Kate Bowman
  • April 20, 2021

NSW Health has recently released an updated End of Life Care and Decision Making Guideline (GL2021_004).

The Guideline is particularly relevant for situations where the patient may lose decision-making capacity before their wishes have been determined. It is intended to provide useful advice for NSW Health staff about a process for negotiating end of life decisions. It also contains information on specific issues such as children and young people, artificial hydration and nutrition, and Advance Care Directives.

Palliative Care NSW recommends this guide is being very helpful for all those in the palliative care community including Local Health Districts, palliative care clinicians and managers of volunteers.
