A new season for the Southern Highlands Community Hospice

The Southern Highlands Community Hospice folk started 2016 with a new opportunity in the wings.

They have commenced negotiations with the aged care provider Warrigal at their Bundanoon Village as a possible location for the proposed community hospice.

Bundanoon Village is located in Bundanoon about 31km southwest of Bowral.

The Village hosts a range of aged care services, with a nursing home on-site and vacant land available with the correct zoning for a hospice.

In their media release the Southern Highlands Community Hospice Chair Margaret Rosenthal said ‘we will continue to have ongoing discussions with Warrigal over the coming months to decide on the best outcome for both our customers and the community’. The advantages of partnering with Warrigal are many including access to medical practices and the opportunity to share specialist staff, large meeting rooms, bus transport and other food and laundry services.

Southern Highlands Community Hospice is actively fundraising to fund the construction and operation of a community hospice. This includes an army of up to 250 volunteers including those engaged in running op-shops in Bowral.

We wish them all the best with the new opportunity in Bundanoon!
