A Big Wave for Volunteers
- by Kate Bowman
- May 17, 2021
It’s here! National Volunteer Week 17 – 23 May 2021. This year, like before, we are being urged to Wave Your Appreciation for Volunteers, as we recognise them, celebrate and thank them for the vital role they play in our lives.
Volunteers are active and important members of many palliative care services. Volunteers provide a range of support to help patients and their carers and families at this difficult time. This includes practical assistance and respite for carers, or the companionship to support a person to die at home if that is their wish. Delivering quality palliative care and continuing to improve on services is made possible in part to the enormous contribution of volunteers.
We wave our hands and say “Thank You” to each and everyone. Enjoy your special week!
