In the wake of the Greater Sydney region lockdown rules enacted over the weekend by the NSW Government, Wollongong and Shellharbour Hospitals have restricted visitors except for those in exceptional circumstances.  Those exceptions include visitation to palliative care.   Those exceptions state “that the nurse unit manager or nurse-in-charge may permit visiting in specific circumstances in those wards. Any visitors must wear a mask or face covering at all times when in the health care facility. This can be their own mask, or one provided at the facility – however, mask supply will be prioritised for staff and patients.”

Volunteers, volunteer managers and visiting family or carers are recommended to check with the person in charge prior to visiting palliative care services.

The new visitation rules apply to Coledale, Bulli, Wollongong, Port Kembla and Shellharbour hospitals until at least July 9.
