When you die, what happens to your pets?

When we think about our pets, it’s natural to wonder what will happen to them when we’re no longer around. They depend on us for love, care, and security, and ensuring their future is a heartfelt concern for many pet owners. Planning for their well-being after our passing can provide peace of mind, allowing us to focus on the joy they bring to our lives while we’re together.

We learned recently about the Home Ever After (HEA) Program offered by RSPCA NSW. Many people living with a life-limiting illness don’t have friends or family willing to take over care of the pets left behind once their owner dies. This initiative is designed to provide peace of mind for pet owners who want to ensure their pets are cared for in the future and is provided in exchange for leaving a gift in their will to support animal welfare.

This program will take care of your pets until they can be rehomed, following your wishes, and honouring their needs and personalities. If you’re interested in this program or are thinking about including a gift in your will, it’s a wonderful way to support the well-being of animals in our community.

If you want to learn more, you can watch two touching stories shared by individuals who have experienced the benefits of the HEA Program. These videos highlight the importance of planning for your pets’ futures and the peace of mind it can bring to loving pet owners. Click HERE to watch.
