The intangible touch of humanity

“In the realm of healthcare, where medical expertise and technology play a crucial role, there exists a parallel dimension of care, one that transcends medical interventions and reaches the very core of human connection. This dimension is embodied by the selfless contributions of volunteers who dedicate their time, empathy, and compassion to the well-being of palliative care patients.”

This week in ehopice, Sumit Banik from AYAT Education in Bangladesh has written an excellent article about palliative care volunteering. He speaks to how volunteering plays a pivotal role in enhancing the effectiveness of palliative care services and how volunteers bring a unique set of skills.

As service providers we are always looking for ways to convince others of the value of volunteers. I strongly recommend taking a moment to read his full article here.

He speaks about volunteers contributing to a tapestry of holistic support and how this has a ripple on effect into communities. He finishes with a call to action, to acknowledge the immense value of palliative care volunteerism, and to encourage and support the services and individuals involved in volunteering.
