Justine Toh from ABC Radio National interviews Alice Matthews, a journalist and volunteer end of life biographer with the Sacred Heart Community Palliative Care Biography Service based at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney, and Chloe Hooper, the author of Bedtime Story, a book that explains death to children.

A fantastic episode that focus on how stories can contribute to healing and the understanding of death, specially for children with family members with a life limiting illness.

Chloe Hooper also featured in an episode of the popular ABC Radio show Conversations with Richard Fidler on August 17.

‘A few years ago, Chloe’s partner Don was diagnosed with a particularly rare form of leukaemia. The prognosis was not good, and Chloe wondered how they were going to pass on the news to their young sons.

This led her on a search through the world of children’s literature, to look for some kind of bedtime story she could tell the little boys, that would be truthful and still lead them to a place of safety.’
