Do you live in Western Sydney? Are you interested in being part of a new community visiting volunteer initiative?

Silverchain Group is looking for volunteers to become involved in their Community Palliative Care Service based in Seven Hills.

Silverchain’s Palliative Care volunteer co-ordinator Elizabeth Hinder is keen to hear from people interested in volunteering who could provide practical and emotional support to patients and their families.

“Supporting families and carers is at the heart of palliative care. And supporting people at home through volunteering is part of the long history of Silverchain’s involvement in palliative care”.

Volunteers are needed during the day from Monday to Friday across the Western Sydney Local Health District.

“Our volunteers provide support and companionship to palliative care clients and respite for client carers. There are also opportunities to help clients record and document their life story”.

“We are looking for people who are excellent listeners, warm, empathetic and compassionate, with a strong commitment to facilitating a patient’s needs and wishes.”
