Resilience in the face of adversity workshop

Palliative Care NSW Volunteer Support Services Programme brings you a FREE workshop for palliative care volunteers. Presented by Mirna Tarabay.

We are very pleased to be able to offer this free online workshop – Resilience in the face of adversity –  to palliative care volunteers across NSW.

Supporting grieving and bereaved people can be very rewarding as well as taxing. Burnout and Compassion Fatigue can be common experiences for the volunteer. In this session, you will be given the opportunity to explore these conditions and to discuss ways to nurture your well-being to facilitate resilience in the face of adversity, uncertainty and grief. This Zoom workshop has been specially created by Mirna Tarabay for palliative care volunteers. Mirna brings with her a wealth of experience in psychotherapy, counselling, and training and has previously facilitated our Accidental Counsellor training sessions.

Knowing that many volunteers may not have the technology available or be confident to Zoom alone we hope Volunteer Managers can gather their volunteers together for a COVID-safe meeting and host the workshop for your whole group. We hope this will give everyone the opportunity for connection and collaboration we have all been so sorely missing of late. Volunteers can also attend individually if they wish but all registrations must be done by the Volunteer Managers.

WHEN:                 Thursday 28 January

TIME:                    10am – 12pm

WHERE:               Online workshop presented via Zoom

REGO:                   Registrations are now open. Registrations must be completed by Volunteer Managers and can only be accessed by clicking on this link to the Eventbrite registration page: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/resilience-in-the-face-of-adversity-zoom-workshop-registration-133182011983

I’m a Volunteer Manager – What do I need to make this work?

A COVID-safe way to bring your volunteers together.

At minimum,  a large screen with sound to display the Zoom meeting so everyone in your group can see and hear Mirna.

If you have a webcam we can see you too but this is not essential.

As manager, you can be the conduit for interaction if a webcam and/or microphone is not available.

Volunteers can also get the Zoom link to watch individually wherever they are, they don’t have to attend the group meeting to participate.

You will need to register using the Eventbrite link above for each of your attending volunteers and specify if they will be attending in the group or watching individually.

You will need to enter a name and email address for each attendee. Attendees will be sent the Zoom meeting link directly to the emails you enter a few days before the event.

If they do not have an email address but will be attending in the group please just enter your email address.
