We are very pleased to welcome to the PCNSW team Emma Scott-Stevenson.  Emma is doing an internship with us.  We asked Emma to tell us a little bit about herself.

I am studying a Bachelor of Social Science, majoring in Social Justice, at Macquarie University. As part of my internship, I am working on the Homelessness and Palliative Care project, which aims to examine the availability and accessibility of palliative care services to homeless individuals throughout Metropolitan Sydney. The ultimate goal of this project would be to improve the palliative care and health services available to homeless individuals within this region, as it is clear they are not currently receiving the level of care they need.

I was excited to attend the forum, as it was an incredible opportunity to meet some of the key stakeholders working in relevant fields, and hear each of their individual experiences. The awareness of these topics, which was raised within the forum, will hopefully lead to significant changes in the ways in which homeless individuals are able to access adequate palliative care.

I am hoping to work in a position which focuses on supporting and improving social structures at a community level. I am delighted to be working for Palliative Care NSW during this internship, as this organisation provides the kind of social support which I one day hope to be a part of.
