Entries are now open for the Live Well, Die Well Art Prize which invites artists of all ages and abilities to share their creative vision on the theme, ‘conversations about end-of-life’.

Life and death are deeply personal, yet universal experiences and art has a unique way of helping us connect, reflect, and begin the conversations that matter most. Whether you’re a seasoned professional, a student just starting out, or someone with a story to share, you are invited to be part of this national dialogue. Volunteers are encouraged to participate.

Palliative Care Australia is running this competition as part of the Oceanic Palliative Care Conference (OPCC) 2025 . From quiet reflections to bold expressions, they are looking for artworks that move people – works to show the beauty in life, the tenderness in loss, and the power of storytelling. There are seven categories and prizes range from $500 to $3000.

Entries are open until Friday 14 July. Find out more about categories, criteria, and guidelines by clicking HERE.

Art at our Palliative Care Volunteer Conference in August

Art offers meaningful benefits for volunteers in palliative care by supporting both emotional connection and personal well-being. Creative expression helps break down the barriers that often surround conversations about death, allowing volunteers to engage with patients and families. It is also a powerful tool for reflection and self-care.

As part of our Palliative Care Volunteer Conference, we are offering a Creative Art Therapy workshop. Participants will learn accessible techniques across a variety of mediums to help express their inner world and foster meaningful connections.
