Helen Keys was awarded Volunteer of the Year at the recent Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District Staff and Volunteer Recognition Awards.

For an incredible 30 years, Helen has volunteered with the Shoalhaven Palliative Care Service on the NSW South-Coast.  She has supported patients and their families at Karinya Palliative Care Unit in Berry, in their homes in the Shoalhaven community and in the Shoalhaven Wig Library, which is completely funded and run by the Volunteer Service.  She has also been on the Committee for the Volunteer Incorporation for many years, some of them as President.

Helen displays extraordinary leadership and is highly respected by the volunteer group.  She generously mentors and supports other volunteers and her knowledge has been an important part of recognising the rich history of the Shoalhaven Palliative Care Volunteer Service.

With an outstanding commitment to Palliative Care, Helen continues to make a difficult time just that little bit easier for countless people in our community.

Congratulations, Helen.
