Get educated on Parkinson’s disease

Parkinson’s disease is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world and the second most common after dementia. Many people are unaware of the different types of Parkinson’s disease and the many ways symptoms present.

For volunteers, carers, and allied health professionals, having a greater understanding and knowledge of the disease can be invaluable when supporting people with Parkinson’s and their support networks.

To facilitate this, a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) has been designed by the Wicking Dementia Centre and Menzies Institute for Medical Research. It presents information in an accessible way and is suitable for anyone interested in learning including people with Parkinson’s and their support networks, volunteers, and medical and allied health professionals.

The MOOC is free and opens soon on October 27. The learning is online and self-paced, and participants are provided with a certificate on completion. For registration and more information, please click HERE.

Information about Parkinson’s disease is also available on the Parkinson’s NSW website and the Parkinson’s Australia website.
