The Centre for Volunteering is offering a Volunteer Management Forum event on ‘How to improve leadership and retain volunteers.”
Effective leadership is essential for a positive volunteer experience and ongoing participation in volunteering activities.
Drawing on research with Australian volunteer agencies and the latest scientific developments in psychology and motivation, this workshop offers an evidence-based solution to improve leadership and address volunteer retention and engagement in your organisation.
To be effective, leaders need support the unique needs of volunteers and tune their managerial practices in more volunteer-centred way. Whilst organisations and managers recognise the importance of good leadership, they may be unsure what leadership approaches are most effective or suitable with volunteers.
Over the past 5 years, leadership experts at University of Wollongong have been researching how leaders influence retention in volunteer organisations. Partnering with the volunteering sector, they have uncovered leadership approaches that promote volunteer job satisfaction and retention and have been able to successfully develop these capabilities and improve leadership in volunteer organisations.
Join Vivien Forner, Organisational Psychologist and Volunteer Leadership expert, in this unique seminar where you will gain the tools and knowledge required to improve leadership and retain volunteers in your own organisation.
