Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1985, IVD shines a spotlight on the power of people-led solutions to address common challenges.

This year’s theme, “Every Contribution Matters,” reminds us that every visit, every conversation, every moment you spend with someone in need creates ripples of kindness and hope. Whether your contribution feels big or small, it matters deeply. Together, these acts build stronger, more connected communities.

This year, 5 December marks an important moment. It is the official launch of International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development (IVY2026), a global initiative that highlights how your efforts help achieve a better, more sustainable future for all.
