The Broken Hill Palliative Care Volunteer Team has received recognition in the NSW Volunteer Team of the Year category at The Centre for Volunteering regional ceremony.

The ceremony took place at the Musicians Club in Broken Hill on October 19, 2023.

This achievement highlights the team’s dedication to providing compassionate and person-centred volunteer services to palliative patients and their caregivers receiving Specialist Palliative Care. The volunteers have generously contributed their time and skills to support and comfort those in need.

Volunteer Manager Janet Pearce says, “Volunteers have a unique gift of providing a sense of normalcy to patients, families, and caregivers they visit. They understand when to converse, when to listen, and when to offer comforting silence.”

“The Far West Local Health District would like to extend their congratulations to the team of volunteers.”
