The Blue Mountains City Council recently hosted their 2024 Seniors Week Recognition Awards in Springwood. These awards acknowledge the contribution that individuals and organisations have made to the seniors of the Blue Mountains community.
The Belong Blue Mountains Palliative Care Volunteer team were the sole group winner for this year.
Sheryl Hardy, Volunteer Coordinator, is very proud of her team. Her volunteers visit people with life-limiting illnesses in their homes, offering companionship and psychosocial support. Some volunteers are specially trained to create biography documents which provide an opportunity for clients to reconnect with themselves and reflect on what matters most.
Mark Greenhill, Mayor, extended his congratulations to award recipients saying, “Many of the award recipients have been quietly working away for a long time and giving back to the community without expecting or seeking recognition.
“Your caring attitude, your generosity, your friendliness and your community spirit are felt throughout our Blue Mountains and is a very important part of what makes this such a wonderful place to live.”
Congratulations, team!
