Donna the poet wins the judges hearts

Unexpectedly the judges to the Your Story writing competition chose a second winner, this time for a poem entry.
The poet who won their hearts was Donna MacKenzie from the Nepean Cancer Care Service.
Donna wrote that she has “been volunteering in palliative care for more than 13 years, and have loved every minute of my time spent in the company of people choosing to die at home.”
Donna’s poem was an insightful reflection on her courage and feelings at being let into a family’s life during the ‘mightiest of struggles’, the end of life experience.
Both Donna and Heidi will have their entries published in the Changing Face of Volunteering in Hospice and Palliative Care: An International Perspective published by Oxford University Press.
Congratulations Donna!
