What’s your final song?

Whether it’s heartfelt, funny, nostalgic, or unexpected, every final song tells a story. Sharing your final song is one way to start the conversation about what matters most. After all, #NobodyKnows what matters most to us until we share it.

Dying to Know is a national campaign that has been bringing Australians together since 2013 to start conversations about death, dying and grief. Each August, hundreds of community events and activities are held across the country, encouraging people to learn about, discuss, and plan for end of life wishes while supporting others to do the same.

Last year, Dying to Know Day organisers asked Australians one simple question: What’s your final song? The response was incredible, with hundreds of people sharing the songs that mean the most to them.

An official Dying to Know: Australia’s Final Playlist was put together on Spotify. It has quite the variety of songs, everything from Don’t Dream It’s Over by Crowded House to Save The Last Dance For Me by The Drifters. Now you too have the opportunity to add your final song to the list.

There are two easy ways to add your final song to the official playlist.

1. Add your song via Spotify.

  • Click here to open the playlist in Spotify.
  • If you haven’t already, login.
  • Select the + Add button on the playlist.
  • Search for the song you would like to add.
  • Select the + button next to the song to add it to the playlist.

Please note: Spotify only allows people to add songs through the Spotify mobile app or the Spotify desktop app. If you’re using Spotify in a web browser, you won’t see the option to add a song.

2. Submit your song via a form on the Dying to Know website

  • Click here and scroll to the bottom of the page to find the form.
  • Fill in the fields of information and hit the submit button.
  • The Dying to Know team will add your song to the official playlist within a few days.

Share your final song on social media, using the hashtag #NowTheyKnow and encourage others to share theirs. Don’t forget to tag @Dying to Know in your social post.

Dying to Know Day is supported by Proveda.
