Palliative Care NSW recognises the invaluable contribution of volunteers who generously dedicate their time to improving the quality of life for individuals and families facing the significant challenges that accompany a life-limiting illness.
To honour their selflessness and compassion, we are pleased to announce the second year of the NSW Palliative Care Volunteer of the Year Award, and the introduction of a new category – NSW Palliative Care Volunteer Team of the Year.
These awards will highlight the vital role volunteers play in providing comfort and care during difficult times and show our deep gratitude for their service.

- Judging period Tuesday 3 – Tuesday 24 March
- Finalists announced Tuesday 31 March
- Winners announced at an event during National Volunteer Week
About the awards
Nominations will be evaluated by a panel of three impartial judges that understand palliative care volunteering – one from the PCNSW Management Committee and two from interstate.
Finalists will be invited to attend a special awards event to be held during National Volunteer Week. The winners of the 2026 NSW Palliative Care Volunteer of the Year Awards will be announced at this event and will automatically enter the Palliative Care Australia National Awards. Winners of the National Awards are announced at the Oceanic Palliative Care Conference in 2027.
