Volunteer Manager gets the chop for charity

Shaving your head is an extreme act but for Palliative Care Volunteer Coordinator Janeen Norris it was nothing short of a celebration. In fact, it is not the first time she has done so.
She shaved her head to raise funds for charity, just like she did back in a 1998. Head shaving isn’t the only way to raise money. Over the years Janeen has undertaken other tasks to raise funds such as selling daffodils.
The Norris family were thrown for a loop many years ago when their son was diagnosed with leukaemia at only 22 months. Fortunately, they are celebrating his ongoing health – he recovered and is now happy and healthy at 32 years old but Janeen remembers how difficult it was at the time and hopes to relieve this burden for other families in her area.
Janeen works in Buronga in the Sunraysia region of NSW which is in the far south west of the state, right up against the Victorian border near Mildura. Charity begins at home which is no doubt why she chose Children Having an Illness Living in Sunraysia (CHAILIS) as the recipient of her donation.
CHAILIS directly helps families of children with severe illnesses. The money goes towards food and fuel all the basics that really add up in these challenging situations. Learn more about their work or make a donation yourself by clicking here.
