Portrait service

The Sacred Heart Biography Service has always encouraged photos to be included within the biographies of their clients. Usually, the client and their family gathers together photographs from important life moments and memories and the biographer helps to curate the collection into their final work.

That was until recently when one of their volunteers, who is also a photographer, began taking informal portraits of their clients to use for biographies. These portraits proved to be really popular and so the Sacred Heart Biography Service have now found a way to incorporate portraits into their wider service offerings.

“We have recently extended our service to include a portrait photography service for those clients who do not necessarily wish to do a full biography but who would like a couple of photos for their family,” says Robyn Swanson and Julie Gissing, Volunteer Managers at the service.

“Rather than formal portraits with studio lighting, these are casual photos that capture something of the essence of the clients. Our volunteer photographer will visit in the home or at a site chosen by client.”

The photos are then provided in digital form for the client and/or family to keep, giving them the option to print copies as they need, in whatever size and quantity they prefer.

“We are really pleased to be able to offer this new, free service to the patients of Sacred Heart,” they said.
