- April 20, 2018
Palliative Care NSW in conjunction with the Port Macquarie/Hastings Palliative Care Volunteer Service will be hosting a one-day seminar on Wednesday May 2 in beautiful Port Macquarie.
Being Present: Spirituality, Art and Experience in Palliative Care will be from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm at the Westport Club.
In the morning, Kate Englebrecht will present a forum on Spirituality and Reflective Practice which will discuss spirituality in the context of caring for people at or near the end of their lives. Kate will also explore reflective practice for practitioners and how meaning is made or formed from our experiences of caring.
In the afternoon sessions, Pauline Smith (Clinical Nurse Consultant) will be speaking about her experiences with palliative care in India followed by Adele Lingard (local artist and palliative care volunteer) who will share her passion for art in practice when caring for the dying. The afternoon will close with a practical session learning how to make personalised Memory Boxes, creating treasured connections and memories with your clients and their families.
Being Present: Spirituality, Art, and Experience in Palliative Care is particularly for the benefit of Palliative Care volunteers and people who are interested in becoming Palliative Care volunteers, as well as other health volunteers, volunteer managers and clinicians.
