The Grief Support Groups provide a safe, empathetic space for emotional expression and mutual support.

Volunteers for Palliative Care Inc. Maitland supports individuals and their families in the Maitland area since 1990 and they have launched Grief Support Groups in Maitland to help community members navigate the challenges of loss. Led by trained volunteers with both professional expertise and personal experience in grief, the groups offer a compassionate, supportive environment where participants can share, heal, and connect with others who understand their journey.

The program is offered free of charge, thanks to the generous backing of Friends of Palliative Care Inc. and NSW Health. Their support ensures this vital service remains accessible to all in the Maitland community.

Where?

These grief groups are held in a welcoming, accessible and private space at Club Maitland City in Rutherford, NSW.

Who Can Attend?

The group is open to anyone in the Hunter region who has lost a loved one to a life-limiting illness and is at least four months into their bereavement journey. It offers a warm, inclusive, and non-religious environment that respects and supports individuals from all cultural backgrounds.
