A Border palliative care team is looking for people with warmth, understanding, emotional maturity, tolerance and discretion.

Mercy Health Albury seeks more volunteer support workers, with successful applicants to take part in a six-day training program later this month.

Supports co-ordinator Louisa Thompson said volunteers came from varied backgrounds and ages.

“The volunteers are as unique as the people they are matched to support, making each placement special,” she said.

“Volunteers offer friendship, companionship, respite and most importantly their time.”

Volunteer support workers give up to four hours a week to the person and/or family they are selected to support.

Call Mrs Thompson on (02) 6042 1458 for details.
