The Sydney Children’s Hospital Network is holding it’s 12th Annual Paediatric Palliative Care Symposium on Thursday the 3rd of March (followed by workshops on Friday the 4th of March) 2016.

This year’s keynote speaker is Ulrika Kreicbergs RN, PhD a researcher exploring factors in health care that can be modified or avoided to reduce suffering and thereby enhance quality of life for the child and their families.

The extensive program includes updates from Hummingbird House, QuoCCA, the work being done in Southern Tasmania, bereavement research, aspects of neuroblastoma, severe malignant disease, an ethics panel, medical marijuana, community care and insights into parental stress.

Seperate registrations can be made for one of three workshops planned for the next day (4th March) including overcoming barriers to research in paediatric palliative care (Ulrika Kreicbergs), paediatric palliative care for medical practitioners (Dr Susan Trethewie), talking to children about death and grief (Natasha Samy).
