In the Far West the palliative care volunteer team with manager Mary Leehane were instrumental in hosting the 2016 Palliative Care NSW Conference in Broken Hill including assisting with set-up, making beautiful flower arrangements, helping people navigate the venue and most importantly selling feather-boas for the conference dinner.

In Broken Hill they are well known for their support of people with delirium and dementia, and in palliative care.

One of the team Lesley Sumsion has just been announced as the Far West Senior Volunteer of the Year.

In her opening address Minister Skinner paid tribute to their contribution, saying “The volunteers in this service are absolutely incredible and I have nothing but the greatest respect for what they do.

Thank you Mary and to all the volunteers who contributed to the success of the conference!
