There is little recognised opportunity or value placed on palliative care volunteering here as yet. I am fortunate to be welcomed as the only volunteer at a 6 bed Ward attached to the Metro South Health region. I would love to be able access the excellent training offered through PCNSW Volunteering, but am a solo volunteer with no official coordinator. I am accountable to the CNC on the ward.
Is it possible I can be accepted despite no coordinator recommendation? In NSW I was attached to David Berry Hospice, and worked in IAHS as a community RN until retirement.
