Cultural diversity and palliative care volunteering
Australia is a multicultural society with an ageing population. As the proportion of older people who come from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds increases so too will the need for culturally competent and sensitive palliative care.
In 2016-7 Palliative Care NSW Policy Officer Megan Burke looked at how the culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) populations are catered for in the field of palliative care within the Sydney Metropolitan area of New South Wales, and how services that utilise volunteers are ensuring they are addressing the needs of this group.
